Tax responsibilities

Information Required For Personal Income Tax

The information required for reporting personal income tax is basically divided into four categories;

(I) Personal Basic Information:

Marital status, social security number or tax ID number, date of birth, family address, occupation, telephone number, choice of married filing jointly or married filing separately; children living situation – whether the child lives with the parents; filing with parents jointly or separately?

(II) Income Information:

Wages, bonuses, commissions, tips, interest and dividends, stock trading orders, social security income, pensions, unemployment benefits, city government refunds, rental housing income; Limited Liability Company (LLC), Subchapter S Corporations (S-CORP), Partnership Company income tax form; lottery ticket winnings, gambling income statement; various forms including W-2s, 1098s, 1099s and K-1s.

(III) Expenditure Information:

Medical expenses, home loan interest and property tax bills, charitable donation receipts, proof of water / fire damage, unreimbursed employee expense receipts (travel transportation, parking fees, work clothes receipts), other miscellaneous expenses (investment consultation, bank safe deposit box fee), tax return fees, proof of study fees, job fees, subscription fees, purchase of IRA funds, repayment of student loan interest, relocation fees, proof of support payments under divorce agreements.

(IV) Tax Benefits Information:

Recruitment fees for child care under 13 years old, receipts for tuition and fees for students, fees for claiming children, etc.

*Need to provide a check at that time to facilitate the automatic refund or transfer of taxes and refunds.
